Help with premiere! (Please reply fast :( )

Right, I've decided to edit my a level media production in premiere after finding out my camera has a video in thingy.

So I captured my video with the built in video capture in Premiere (i'm using an old video tape camera thing). These all work seperate and preview in the monitor in premiere.

However if I select the frames view in the timeline , it is all black!

The edits playback in the monitor, and the seperate clips playback, but when I export all I get is a black screen and sound.

I'm a total beginner to premiere so I think its something really simple that I'm doing wrong, please if you've got any help post fast!

What version of Premiere are you using?

Look around the menu's, and anything you see that you can set to "Composite", set to it.

Everyone in the world seems to have this prob including me. Have you got XP? i'M PRETTY SURE it messes up most firewire connections. It'll capture but not output. In which case your screwed. [img]confused.gif[/img]

i'm using 6.0 and i can't see a composite i'll keep looking.

The shots are on my pc, i can see them in windows media player and the likes, just won't export or anything.

also, now my premiere monitor has a cross in it and nothing shows up. dunno wot i'v done there

ok , i think its a problem with my captures or something. is there a standard adobe needs to use? my captures are 640**** and are 25fps.
I can import and edit the samples fine that come with adobe.
I have tried virtual dub to capture my avi too.
All my captures work seperately but not in adobe.

The problem is that most Adobe programs are optimised for the Mac.

Time to switch

Premiere works like a dream on my Win 2k machine.

It worked **** under XP.

Hi Vlad,

Are you using a standard Firwire card? O are you using a dedicated capture?

If you are seeing black frames on the timeline this could be for a number of reasons. First of all MAKE SURE you are selecting the right preset in the Load Project Settings screen. Select Standard 48KHz from the DV PAL folder. If you're using a dedicated capture this will probably be different, the manual should tell you.

If you've captured files that are 640 pixels by whatever this is wrong and proably means you've selected the wrong preset. The video standard for DV PAL AVI files is 720 x 576.

Make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card. Make sure you're resolution is set to 1024 x 768 and 32 bit colour depth.

Windows XP should work fine with Premiere and DV if configured correctly.
